“Grandparents Day” was celebrated on 22nd September, 2012 in the school auditorium. Grandparents are the trees who spread their loving branches over their grandchildren and protect them from harshness and cruelty of the outside world. To honour them and convey our gratitude to them, few hours were dedicated to the grandparents of the L.K.G. students.
The programme began with a prayer song, that depicted the cultural integrity of our country. This was followed by a Fashion show by the grandparents and their grandchildren. It was a pleasure to see them walk on the ramp in their best attire with grace and style. The judges for the Fashion Show, Dr. Mrs. Neena Duggal, Mrs. Meenu Sharan and Mrs. Sumita Banerjee judged the grandparents of Muskan and the grandparents of Olivia Chatterjee as winners of the First and Second prize respectively. There was also a dance performance to the tune of “Dada Ji Ki Chhadi Hoon Main” .Vidya Kumari , a student of LKG recited a poem on Grandmother.
Some games were also organized for the grandparents. In the event “Thumb Painting”, the grandparents of Jahanave Mishra were declared the winner and the grandparents of Navtej Singh Nagi were adjudged to be the winner of the “Passing the Teddy” event.
Mrs.Varsha Gandhi, the Secretary of the School Managing Committee, was the Chief Guest for the occasion. In her address to the gathering she also pointed out the charm of the relationship of the grandparents and their grandchildren. The programme conceptualized by the Vice-Principal, Mrs. Piyusha Ishwar and conducted under the leadership of Miss Rashmi Kalra and Miss Jyoti Luthara , was well appreciated by the Chief Guest, other esteemed guests and also the grandparents, who shared their views with all present there.
The programme ended by giving gifts and chocolates to all grandparents and the children respectively.
