Green Drive at NHES

"Realizing that environmental protection is the need of the hour, Narbheram Hansraj English School has decided to observe the current session as the Year of the Environment. The theme 'Go Green' is the dominating theme for most of the school programmes such as debates, collage and painting competition etc.. The theme is promoted through the activities of the Eco Club of the school who encourage students to undertake activities such as paper drives to recycle old newspapers, awareness campaigns to stop distribution and use of plastic bags by visiting stores and distributing paper packets and seeds and organizing Nukkad Natak (street plays). The school observes a ten minute "power switch off" on Wednesdays to encourage everyone to save electricity and a 'no synthetic day' for teachers on the 1st Thursday of every month. Use of plastic bags is banned in the school premises. We use eco friendly notebooks and recycle old exam papers. We also have a rain water harvesting system and guests are presented saplings instead of bouquets. It is hoped that these small measures shall go a long way in spreading awareness and making this world a greener and more peaceful place to live in.

Here are a few examples of our 'green' activities-a dedicated soft board for environment related issues, some entries from the collage competition, the beginning of a green walk to spread awareness, a Nukkad Natak (street play) in progress at Contractors' Area, Bistupur, quiz, painting and debate competition.
